Good for Franklin Graham!

Franklin Graham got it exactly right in his reaction to Barack Obama's official proclamation of support for the oxymoronic abomination known as "same-sex marriage."

He has "shaken his fist" at God, said Graham.

And that's not something someone even pretending to be the president of the United States should do.

"It grieves me that our president would now affirm same-sex marriage, though I believe it grieves God even more," Graham added. "This is a sad day for America. May God help us."

Graham was also right when he explained that God created and defined marriage. It "should not be defined by presidents or polls, governors or the media. The definition was set long ago, and changing legislation or policy will never change God's definition."

Obama and the other champions of this perversion are arrogantly defying an institution literally defined by God in the Garden of Eden and affirmed by his Son Jesus during his earthly ministry. So anyone claiming to be a Bible-believing Christian who rejects that definition has some serious soul-searching to do — not to mention some exegetic rationalization.

It's one thing for an atheist to support this faddish idea. It's one thing for an agnostic secular humanist to support it. It's one thing for a non-Christian or non-Jew to support it.

But it is another thing entirely for anyone who claims to believe the Bible is the Word of God — or to call himself a Christian, as Obama and Joe Biden do.

It's simply heretical, not to mention irrational. Few things could be clearer in the Bible than God's position on the fact that marriage is an institution created for men and women — exclusively.

The first mention of marriage in the Bible comes early on — in Genesis 2:24 — where it is written, following the creation of Eve, "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh."

Most uses of the word "cleave" in the Bible interestingly involve commands by God to "cleave" unto him.

And the Bible is full of parallels between the marriage of men and woman and the relationship between people and God.

Of course, there are many so-called "Christians" who don't take the Old Testament seriously. It doesn't make a lot of sense because it is the Old Testament that prophecies the Messiah to come and the credentials of the one whom all true Christians worship as the Son of God and their redeemer — Jesus.

But let's put that contradiction aside for the moment. For anyone who calls himself a Christian, a follower of Jesus, is without excuse on the definition of marriage because Jesus himself defined it — in not one but two gospel accounts.

In Matthew 19:4-5, he said, "Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, and said, for this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?"

Likewise, in Mark 10: 6-9, he said, "But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; and they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder."

In that last phrase, "let not man put asunder," Jesus was talking about the disruption of a single marriage. It was a warning against the plunder of divorce. Yet it has even more compelling applications for those who seek to put asunder the entire institution of marriage by redefining it according to the latest popular convention.

There will be serious consequences for America as a result of this growing apostasy. I believe we are already feeling them. It's praiseworthy that voters in 32 out of 32 states have rejected this invention of the pseudo-intellectual cultural elite. But it will take more than that to prevent God's wrath on a nation flirting with arrogant, defiant rejection of one of God's most sacred injunctions.

As a man claiming to be America's leader, Obama has cursed us all. In fact, he himself represents one of those judgments that, I believe, is already upon us as a nation.

Sir;... There are seldom times when I do not believe in God...I easily reach the limits of knowledge and then I walk the plank and step into belief... But; I do want to know with every fibre of my being just what would we do without all the clowns putting words in the mouth of God for us to hear??? What if we had to figure things out for ourselves and only had to do what was wise, decent, or kind??? Are we going to accept as gospel the words of ignorant hicks who lived back when the sun moved and the earth stood still???...Clearly, those people did not listen to their own prophets, and would impale their hands with rods to teach them silence, or hang them on trees until they shut up...The message of every religious establishment is always the same: DON'T mess with the establishment...What about love??? Who is ever going to tell with any sort of success, who shall love who...It is not like I am a friend of the gays, or that they are a friend to me... It is that, if you would do God's work, you do not need permission, and you do not need position, and all you do need, is the will... Do these boot blacks for God have anything of value to add to life??? Are they so consumed by trivialities that they cannot do good without doing harm??? Church leadership is useless... It is all about politics and power...Thanks...Sweeney

Sir;... And this guy is actually a leader??? I wouldn't follow him to the dinner table let alone any where my life or eternal life depended upon... He confuses his culture, and his religion with all cultures and religions on the basis of superficial chracteristics... Judeo-Christian beliefs have done more to destroy other cultures than to preseve them though they are each one part of the story of mankind...They are responsible for much of the war and bloodshed experience in the last two thousand years, and have justified nearly all of the exploitation...The Bible is a book of nonsense that justifies every injustice, with moral lessons never heeded by those who thump them... Not one of these so called Christians gets the message of the old testament prophets, and all of them get the immorality as a lesson in using religion to bleed and exploit an entire nation, and leave the poor suing each other for their tunics...They do not see the extent to which the exploitation of Jew by Jew weakened their nation before their enemies; and now they push for the exploitation of American by American as though it were blessed by the Bible...I have no choice... I am a born and baptized Catholic... By my choice of following a sworn Nazi into hell or Mr. Graham, it only out of tradition because there is nothing to recommend either one...I'll leave my church when I find a better one is my way of saying: Fat chance; since they are all rotten...And from the top down...Thanks...Sweeney
