Some of My Favorite Fashion Things

Share Comment

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens...well, maybe not so much. Warm woolen mittens? Now we're getting closer. Some of my favorite things to give for the holiday season usually, of course, have some sort of "fashion factor" to them, and this year, my list of favorites is long. However, in the interest of Santa's budgetary constraints, here are just a few of my favorite fashion things — all for under $100:

—Jingle G — It's the newest fragrance from Harajuku Lovers, and this one is a real cutie! She's all dressed up in a sparkly Santa suit and features a built-in hook making her a perfect holiday ornament and stocking stuffer for my daughter this year. Available at Sephora in-store and online for $25.

—"Christian Lacroix and the Tale of Sleeping Beauty" (It Books, 21.99) — I love giving books for the holidays, and this one is for my niece this year. It's the new "fashion fairy tale" by Camilla Morton that is illustrated by designer Christian Lacroix. It's a new twist on an old story and is the latest in a series from the famed, fashion writer.

—Infinity scarves — I love scarves, and my closet is filled with pashmina's in every color. But this year, I'm giving my friends "infinity" scarves — the new "loop" scarves that are perfect for tossing over sweaters and coats. The striped wool and cashmere scarves at J.Jill (jjill.com) are some of my favorites for $49 each.

—Twinkle toes! There's nothing quite like the comfort of Tom's shoes, and, this past week, I gave myself a pair of glittering black flats to wear to all those holiday parties where you stand for hours. Those fashionistas in the 5-inch stilettos will be jealous. Check out the sparkling stash of Tom's shoes at Neiman Marcus or toms.com.

—Tune in! Want to know the perfect gift for young and old alike? Hats and earmuffs with built-in ear buds to plug into your Ipod or Iphone.

For only $19.50, you can find American Eagle Outfitters ear bud mufflers and beanies at ae.com.

—For the frequent flyers on my list, I've got the perfect gift this year. It's the "Dirty Little Secret" lingerie bags. Made by fabric artisan Nicole Matthias, these stylish bags in the shape of sexy lingerie are perfect for hanging in the closet at home or folded in a suitcase. Visit MiAmor.com for more details.

—For the cooks on your list, I love the whimsical aprons at Pier 1 Imports. This popular store also boasts plenty of other fashionable stocking stuffer ideas: animal print bath accessories, beaded coin purses (perfect for sticking a gift card inside), jewelry pouches and knit headbands.

—Pajamas have always been a holiday tradition around my house. Every Christmas Eve when I was growing up, my mother would always "present" us with a new pair of PJs. But today, I skip the traditional flannel and go straight to the fun stuff. Check out the new Josie Natori collection at Target — a real style bargain at $9.99 to $34.99.

—For the guys on my list, I like to browse the L.L. Bean catalog. My dad loves their fleece-lined jeans and my husband likes their fleece and flannel plaid shirts. For the younger men on my list, it's going to be the Bean Mad Bomber hats with rabbit fur and earflaps for only $39.95. (llbean.com)

—Another warm idea? A quilted down vest. One of the hottest fashion looks around this winter is the vest, and the folks at Lands' End have them in a dozen hot colors for under $50. Add a special monogram for only $6. (landsend.com)

—And for those warm woolen mittens? I love the ones at Anthropologie. From cuffed shearling gloves to colorful retro knits, these are just a few of my favorite things!
